They should have just gotten one of these PR1 V4 T3 plates.

This also reminds me of the fact that you used to be able to write  your own bank checks by hand (don’t know if that’s still legit ).

And that reminded me of this weird story.

Is Bourbon county Kentucky real?

What kind of idiot writes Bourbon on the license plate?

Oh, that’s where the county name goes.

Bourbon isn’t a real county, is it?

Oh, so it is.

I wonder what their impaired driving crime stats are like?

When I was in college there was someone with an old white SUV that did this. It was pretty well done (better than the above), but still obvious up close. When their “sticker” expired, they drew a new one.

I don’t think I ever took a picture of the plate (my digital camera at the time was crap), but I believe it’s the last car in the row here, and the license plate is hanging in a plastic pouch on the right side of the rear window (you can see something there, but much to small to make out the plate, mainly I just wanted to reminisce about my Previa ) :

Google says yes.

I’m somehow not shocked.

Banjos reminds me of my buddy in North Carolina (we went to high school and university together). He says the family pool business is usually in trouble with the number of DUIs that employees have. When he went to work for them after he got laid off , we asked a) if he was the only one with a valid license and b) when he’d be getting his DUI.

Same shit in Hawaii, my friend’s dad has a solar business and I used to make the tanks for them when I was in high school, they had a guy that had to be picked up on the way to work.

[In 2018] the state had more than 8.1 million barrels of bourbon that were aging – a number that greatly exceeds the state’s population of about 4.3 million.

Kentucky takes their bourbon seriously.

In Maine, the BMV was closed for months at the start of the pandemic. Cardboard license plates popping up all over town, most with the word COVID, some more original. The BMV reopened 3 months ago and all these home made plates should have been replaced with something proper f or the vehicle, but I saw one this weekend.

Often those counties are dry.

Jack Daniels is famously distilled in a dry county

A dry county means nothing . Alcohol makes its way in regardless. We have plenty of rumrunners in Saskatchewan bringing in alcohol to dry reserves.

That’s literally why the liquor is called Bourbon.

The county predates the booze though.

“ Bourbon” probably reflects what they were drinking when they came up with that idea, not the county they live in

Police offered some sound advice for any drivers looking to test their drawing skills on their Facebook page .

“Pro Tip: Don’t forget to draw the registration sticker.”

Always feels weird when they offer friendly advice on how to step up your game like this . T hanks! I’ll remember that next time!

Dry here meant you just couldn’t buy in the precinct, not that you couldn’t drink it. The package liquor stores would set up at the precinct lines.

Named after the French dynasty: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_of_Bourbon

A name that long predates the beverage.

The whiskey name is possibly named after the county (though there are other claimants)

When we bought my wife’s Sorento, I scored a great deal out of state. Driving it back home it was pouring rain and the paper 30-day tag got soaked and flew off somewhere in VA. Not able to get a tag right away, I recreated it in Powerpoint, printed it out and taped it in the back window and she drove it around like that for a week, lol.
